About this course:

Objective:
For participants to develop their understanding and be assessed on their performance on the skills required by the Dispute Resolution and Advocacy Practice Skills Standards.  

Intended audience:
PSC and SQE Trainees

Duration:
16.5 hours (15 hours online and 1.5 hour assessment) 
Topics:
  • Taking instructions from client
  • Analysis of Claim & Advice
  • Analysis on Quantum and advice on litigation risk
  • Review of Evidence
  • Analysis / amending Response to Claim
  • Disclosure Analysis
  • Settlement Analysis & Strategy
  • Application Hearing: one-to-one Advocacy in front of Employment Tribunal Judge (played by a member of the Assessment Team)
  • Negotiation: One-to-one ‘over the table’ negotiation against Claimant’s advisor (played by a member of the Assessment Team)

Outcomes:
The success measures of this course are participants will have an understanding and level of practical performance consistent with the Day 1 Standard expected of a newly qualified solicitor in relation to the SRA’s Practice Skills Standards in Dispute and Advocacy.
