This module is aimed at developing high levels of self-awareness of one’s own and others’ behavioural preferences; to help legal assistants to better understand what needs clients and colleagues may have in different situations.

Topics covered:
  • Understand the MBTI (Myers Briggs Type Indicator) personality instrument, and the normal range of personality and behavioural preferences it incorporates
  • Know your own MBTI type, and better understand your preferences around planning, decision-making and communicating
  • Gain an appreciation of some of the MBTI types different to your own, how they tend to behave and communicate and what their needs are
  • How to evaluate what type others may be
  • Consider how you can best harness your strengths and work on your weaknesses in terms of your MBTI type

Outcomes:
The success measures of this course are:
  • Enhance their self-awareness around personality and preferences;
  • Gain a better understanding of the needs that others have and how to get the best out of them; and
  • Start to apply this understanding to their key working relationships, by considering how the behaviour of individuals can be altered to work more effectively in teams.
